In
case you missed Season One,
The Originals is a spin-off from The
Vampire Diaries which centers around the
Mikaelson siblings Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah and follows their quest
to reclaim the city of New Orleans, which they built in the early
1900's and were forced to flee due to their angry Father.
Turns
out that now Klaus' own protege, named Marcel, is running the city
into the ground and they decide that they must take down Marcel and
get back the city that once belonged to them. While doing that, they
must also protect everything that they have built from the war
brewing between the vampires, werewolves, and the witches. The show
has some interesting characters and writing and some decent actors
including Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Claire Holt as our
leads.
Season
2 has 22 episodes that span the three Blu-ray discs here including
Rebirth, Alive and Kicking, Every Mother's
Son, Live and Let Die, Red Door, Wheel Inside the Wheel, Chasing the
Devil's Tail, The Brothers That Care Forgot, The Map of Moments,
Gonna Set Your Flag On Fire, Brotherhood of the Damned, Sanctuary,
The Devil is Damned, I Love You Goodbye, They All Asked For You, Save
My Soul, Exquisite Corpse, Night Has A Thousand Eyes,
When The Levee Breaks, City Beneath the Sea, Fire With Fire, and
Ashes to Ashes.
Far
surpassing the original broadcast quality is a sharp 1080p high
definition transfer with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a
beautifully mastered, lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) audio track
in English 5.1, as well as tracks in French and Spanish 2.0 and
Subtitles in English SDH, French, and Spanish. An Ultraviolet Copy
of the season is also included for those who like to watch their
shows on the go.
Warner
Brothers are always great with supplemental materials on disc for
their shows and this is no exception. Extras here include The
Originals: Always and Forever, The Originals: The Awakening Web
Series, The 2014 Comic Con Panel, Come Visit Georgia PSA, Unaired
Scenes, and a Gag Reel.
If
you're a fan of Vampire Diaries, Twilight, or True
Blood then The Originals could be right up your alley.
It's a mixture of soap opera meets supernatural horror and while it
has some cheesy moments isn't the worst thing on television.
