The League: The Complete Season Six (2015/Fox DVD Set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B Extras: B Episodes: C+

The League: The Complete Season Six is kind of one note. They decided to use the same jokes in almost the same exact way every chance they get for this season. Some of them can still be funny, but it is nowhere near the level of absurdity the earlier seasons present. However, that does not mean this season is worth skipping over. It really shows the beginning of the decline of their fantasy football league as members start leaving, because it opens with them having to draft at one of the members funerals in the episode "Sitting Shiva."

Season 6 of The League relies heavily on cameos and probably the best character on the show, Rafi (Jason Mantzoukas). In the earlier seasons of The League, we would only see Rafi (Mantzoukas) what felt like once a season, but they saw how terrifically funny his character was and decided to get him in there as much as possible without making him a full-time member of their fantasy football league. They even give us an entire episode dedicated to Rafi (Mantzoukas) and his best friend Dirty Randy titled, "When Rafi Met Randy."

Luckily one of the redeeming qualities of The League is that it is one of the shows you don't have to consistently watch in order to make sense of what is going on. You are able to pick it up if you missed an episode and did not remember to record it on DVR or even if you bought the season and hate an episode so much you decide to just skip it. It is also very good at pulling in a bigger audience than just football fans that enjoy things like getting together to fight and draft their fantasy football team, it appeals to everyone that likes this sort of comedy. It is not for everyone and I am sure they would say the same thing.

There are 13 episodes on this 2-disc DVD set, which is presented in standard definition and a 16 X 9 widescreen 1.78:1 format, looking better thanI have ever seen TV on DVD look. The audio is lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 on all shows, sounding crisp and clear. The episodes include, "Sitting Shiva", "Tefl-Andre", "The Height Supremacist", "When Rafi Met Randy", "The Hot Tub", "Breast Awareness Month", "The Heavenly Fouler", "Man Land", "Taco Standard Time", "Epi Sexy", "EBDBBnB", "Menage a Cinq", and "The Beach House."

The extras on the discs include Deleted Scenes, Taco Tones, Alt Nation, and a Gag Reel.
