Dave
Campfield's Paranormal
Halloween
(2015) is a micro budgeted spoof on modern horror films in the same
vein as the Scary
Movie
films. Parodying everything from John Carpenter's Halloween
to Kubrick's The
Shining,
The
Exorcist,
Poltergeist,
Sinister
and of course Paranormal
Activity,
the film features a cast of unknowns including Dave Campfield
himself, Paul Chomicki, Deron Miller, Debbie Rochon, Felissa Rose and
Vernon Wells to name a few.
Obviously
wanting to resemble an '80s comedy, some of the jokes work and some
don't but all in all, I found it more enjoyable than I expected to.
However, the filmmaking is amateur at times with scenes that have
uneven lighting, bad blocking, and shots that don't cut together
well.
The
story pits Half brothers Caesar and Otto who barely escape the
clutches of a Michael Myers-esque killer and experience some
paranormal acts while house sitting a home for the Governor of
California's house. All of the half brothers compete for a love of a
Gardener, deal with their insane Father, and experience ghastly
visions and possessions.
Presented
in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of
1.77:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Special features include
Director's Commentary, Cast and Crew Commentary, Blooper Reel, Son of
Piggyzilla trilogy, Bonus Shorts and Videos and trailers.
