Shaun The Sheep Movie (2015/Lionsgate Blu-ray w/DVD)

Picture: B+/B- Sound: B+/B- Extras: B Film: B

From the creators of Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit comes Shaun The Sheep Movie (2015), a heartwarming stop-motion animated film that is superbly crafted and fun for the whole family. What I liked most about this film is that there isn't any dialogue, everything is conveyed through expression and actions, much like a silent film (unless you count grunting as dialogue).

All is well at Mossy Bottom Farm, except for the fact that the animals will do anything to get out of work. So, Shaun the sheep and his scheming friends devise a plan to put their master to sleep. However, the ruse backfires when the poor farmer finds himself transported to the big city, having lost his memory. Now, it's up to Sean, Timmy the lamb, Shirley the ewe and the rest of the gang to travel to the metropolis and get him back, while not landing in even more trouble themselves.

Sporting a crisp 1080p high definition transfer and a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and a strong, lossless DTS-HD 5.1 MA (Master Audio) presentation, the film looks and sounds amazing. There is so much detail in the animation that really reads on here down to paint strokes on a wall or cotton fur on top of a sheep, it's all captured perfectly here.

A DVD of the film is also packaged in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen presentation of 1.85:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. The difference in picture clarity is staggering when looks at these discs side by side. Digital Copy is also included.

Extras include:

All in all if you are fan of animation, you won't want to miss this incredibly well made film. It

really looks fantastic on Blu-ray disc.
