12 Rounds 3: Lockdown (2015/Lionsgate Blu-ray)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: B Film: C

From WWE and Lionsgate comes the action/thriller, 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown (2015) starring the WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose. The plot loosely borrows from other action films in the same genre like the Die Hard films mixed with a 'dirty cops that must be exposed' undertone. To be honest, I don't think Ambrose has much screen presence in this and don't really expect him to become a household action name any time soon. While he was fine during the action scenes, some of the more dialogue heavy moments tend to suffer.

Detective Shaw (Ambrose) returns to active duty after the death of his partner. When he uncovers evidence linking his fellow officers to a murder, they frame him for a homicide he didn't commit. Trapped in his own precinct, Shaw will do whatever it takes to expose the dirty cops and clear his name. With twelve rounds in the clip and one shot at redemption, nothing will stand in Shaw's way.

Presented in 1080p 1.78 X 1 high definition with a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track, the presentation on the disc is beautifully done, making this low budget film look as good as it can. Also included is a digital ultraviolet copy of the film. Extras include featurettes Resourceful Adversary and Filming a Gunfight.

While not bad to look at from a cinematic standpoint, this film feels very 'been there done that' and too similar to other better films of its kind. Unless you're a huge WWE fan (which I'm not), then this may be more up your alley than it is mine.
