Severin
brings us for the first time ever restored in high definition, the
insane Films
of Frederick R. Friedel.
If you're a fan of grindhouse-era type films then you definitely
want to check these out. Creatively shot on film in North Carolina
in the 1970's, the films were presumed lost for quite some time and
seen mostly only in drive-ins. Thanks to Severin, they have been
fully restored in 2K high definition and look great on disc with
incredible extras and the bonus audio soundtrack!
In
Axe
(1974, which sported a really good ad campaign at the time), depraved
killers on the run hold a young woman and her invalid grandfather
hostage in an isolated farmhouse. In Kidnapped
Co-ed
(1976), the teenage daughter of a wealthy family forms a perverse
relationship with her abductor. Also included is Bloody
Brothers,
Friedel's recut of the two features as one film is also an
interesting bonus for this release.
Restored
from the original negatives in 1.85 X 1 from 2K high definition
upgrades and English 2.0 audio tracks, the films look better than
ever before on Blu-ray disc; a great restoration here done by Severin
as usual. Two more orphan films saved.
Extras
include:
Audio
Commentaries
Moose
Magic - The George Newman Shaw & John Willhelm Story
Stephen
Thrower on the films
Trailers,
TV Spots & Radio Spots
Soundtrack
on audio CD
If
you're a fan of low budget horror, 1970's horror, and especially
grindhouse-era films, then you will definitely enjoy this double
feature.
