Forever: The Complete Series (2014 - 2015/Warner Archive DVD Set)

Picture: B Sound: C+ Extras: C- Episodes: A-

What if you could live forever? Dr. Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffold), medical examiner for New York's finest is secretly an immortal. He helps the NYPD solve crimes, as he searches for the answers to how he became an immortal. Armed with 200 hundred years of knowledge he sees the clues the police would usually miss, but when another Immortal shows up, can Morgan afford to keep his secret?

In the ambitious Forever: The Complete Series (2014 - 2015), Dr. Henry is an immortal because 200 years ago, he was shot and thrown overboard and he was suddenly able to come back to life. Since then he has survived wars, had a family, and now works as an ME for the NYPD. The only one who knows his secret is his adopted son Abe whom he currently lives with as his 'roommate' in an antique shop. He works with Detective Jo in the Police Homicide dept. in high profile murder cases as he is an expert in 'death'. As he searches for ways to cure his immortality he is stalked and haunted by another immortal 'Adam' who claims he has lived for... over 2,000 years.

This was an incredible series, filled with interesting murders and twists, like a mix of BBC's
Sherlock Holmes and the series Castle. If you like any of those two series I think Forever is up there with them, but I was sad to hear the series was canceled after season one because of 'low ratings', I think they have been listening to poor critics and even poorer reviews. I would of liked to have seen more. Let's see if this becomes a cult item that leads to a comeback.

The anamorphically enhance 1.78 X 1 image is nice and clear throughout, making one wish for a Blu-ray edition, while the lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix has its moments, but is more subdued and limited than expected. Extras include unaired scenes.
