The Leftovers: The Complete Second Season (2015/HBO/Warner Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B Sound: C+ Extras: D Episodes: B+

Three years ago, 140 million people (2% of the population) suddenly disappeared everywhere. This was known as the 'Departure', no place was spared ...except Jarden, which became better known later as the town of 'Miracle'. Now 'Miracle' and it's people have become a tourist attraction and the center of place for religious zealots, charlatans, false/real prophets, even terrorists. Some believe, some don't and some don't care... as some moves on, others lives in denial and apathy... but there are those will do anything to things from things from changing further, to keep things to keep the truth hidden from everyone ...even themselves in The Leftovers: The Complete Second Season (2015).

With 'Miracle' becoming the center of attraction, everyone who visits wants a piece of it, but all who live in Miracle know better... they are too afraid of another 'Departure', and there are strict rules in the town of Miracle, any hint if someone did 'depart' from Miracle could destroy everything they had built. Anything that destroys the peace is a threat, however with 98 percent false miracles, even a 2% real miracles can't be ignored. Caught between a world of faith and miracles, the Garveys and Murphys on the surface lives in peace but underneath can't deny the truth... they are living a lie. The Garveys are haunted by their ghosts of their past and supernatural things that are occur around them. The Murphys deny miracles and no longer believes and will use 'any' means of violence to defend their way of life.

This was an interesting series, it creates a world where various religions took over, government and laws aren't there for justice as much a controlling the people. It was more like a series of short stories of different people that are interconnected within the same universe. It was about the people living in paranoia and terror, and those who would use it to further their own purposes. However, no one can deny when true 'miracles' occur, but they still can't stop or explain why these 'miracles' happened ... or can keep them from happening again. Justin Theroux stars.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image us solid throughout, even if the digital work might be overdone, while the lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mix is a little uneven and inconsistent. Sometimes, that seems to be by choice, but it could have been better. There are no extras, but you can read more about the premiere season and the show at this link...
