In the vein of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Fred Dekker's Night of the Creeps (1986) is an '80s classic that blends science fiction and horror with a dose of comedy that is still as great today as it was when first released. Thanks to Umbrella, we now have this amazing new release packed with new extras, a collectible reversible slipcover, and a sharp high definition transfer that brings the film to life like never before.

The film stars Tom Atkins (Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, The Fog), Dick Miller, Jason Lively (European Vacation), and Steve Marshall with incredible special effects by some of the biggest names in the SFX industry today, Howard Berger (The Walking Dead) and Robert Kurtzman (From Dusk Til Dawn).

When aliens jettison an interstellar space pod in 1959 it crashes to Earth and infects an unsuspecting human in a most sinister manner, establishing a macabre baseline of monster mayhem. 25 years later, the cryogenically frozen subject remains part of a college study, but when students Chris Romero (Jason Lively) and J.C. Hooper (Steve Marshall) release it on a fraternity dare, the infected subject not only defrosts to wreak havoc once again but turns the small town upside down. Bugs, slugs, slithering creatures of all manner and malevolence infiltrate the community in the name of disarray, hell-bent on transforming it into a zombie playground where the living dead rule.

Presented in 1080p High Definition with a 1.85:1 widescreen aspect ratio and a crystal clear, lossless 5.1 DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) English track, you'll be hard pressed to find a better edition of this film out here. It simply looks incredible on Blu-ray and it is commendable what Umbrella has come up with at least as good a copy as the U.S. Sony Blu-ray.

The extras are vast and include:

Audio commentary with writer/director Fred Dekker

Audio commentary with the cast

The Making Of The Creeps

Tom Atkins: Man of Action

New Fred Dekker interview

Deleted Scenes

Original theatrical ending

Trivia Track

Original Theatrical Trailer

If you're a fan of the film then you will definitely want to pick this release up! And if you're a fan of horror and sci-fi and haven't seen it, you owe it to yourself to give this disc a spin.
