Little House On The Prairie: Ninth and Final Season (1982 - 1983/NBC/Lionsgate DVD Set)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: C Episodes: C+

The Ninth and Final Season of Little House On The Prairie closes out the epic tale with the bittersweet decision for the Ingalls, who decide to live their home behind to find work and move to Iowa, there they see many changes a new life. This was the 82/83 Season and stars Melissa Gilbert, Dean Butler, Victor French, Jonathan Gilbert, Shannon Doherty (!), and Richard Bull. Lionsgate has done a great job once again with this Little House release, each episode remastered, restored, and looking better than the previous 2005 release on DVD.

The set includes 21 episodes including Times Are Changing (Part 1), Times Are Changing (Part 2), Welcome to Olesonville, Rage, Little Lou, The Wild Boy (Part 1), The Wild Boy (Part 2), The Return of Nellie, The Empire Builders, Love, Marvin's Garden, Sins of the Fathers, The Older Brothers, Once Upon A Time, Home Again (Part 1), Home Again (Part 2), A Child With No Name, The Last Summer, For the Love of Blanche, May I Have This Dance?, and Hello and Goodbye.

Remastered and represented in standard definition with the original 1.33:1 Full Screen aspect ratio and an English 2.0 Dolby Digital Audio track that's an improvement over the original broadcast recording. A Digital Copy also included. A Blu-ray edition is also available and would be of better quality if our past Blu-ray coverage of the series is any indication. The only extra is the Movie Special: Bless All The Children.

The absence of Michael Landon does kind of hurt the series and it's always sad to see a good thing go, but this edition of Little House on the Prairie is a must for fans of the season and rounds out a nice collection put out by Lionsgate.
