After
the lost of his father, Wong Fei-hung (Eddie Peng) vows to save the
people of China from the oppression of the Black Tiger Gang. He
infiltrates the gang, posing as a fighter for hire to destroy the
gang from within and the helping the resistance in Roy Hin Yeung

(2014).
Before
Wong Fei-hung became a legend, he was a martial arts master. With
his skills, he quickly rose to become one of the 4 captains within
the Black Tiger Gang, but his true intention is to help the
resistance, the Orphan gang, to destroy the Black Tiger Gang from
within by destroying their resources and causing infighting between
the members. When foreigners request 300 Chinese slaves, Wong
Fei-hung and his companions will have to stop the sale before they
are shipped overseas.
Based of Jet Li's "Once
Upon a Time in China"
series, Rise
of the Legend
is an origins story for the fictional character Wong Fei-hong, a
martial arts master in the time of China foreign occupation and
imperialism. The government is corrupt and weak and the power lies
control of criminals who would profit off the misery of the Chinese
people. The character of Wong Fei-hong embodies the spirit and
traditions of China, through their own power will they be free from
the rule of others. The martial arts legend Sammo Hung leads a solid
cast.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image was shot with a
combination of Arri Alexa, RED and Go Pro cameras ranging from 5K to
2.5K, then was finished in 2K and looks really, really impressive
throughout here, making it one of Well Go's best Blu-ray
presentations visually to date. The
DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix is actually a mixdown from
the original Dolby Atmos 11.1 theatrical sound soundmaster and still
sounds good, but you can tell some sound is being held back and one
wishes a DTS: X 11.1 or Dolby Atmos 11.1 was here. However, it is
fine for what it is, but no match for the picture. Maybe we'll get
11.1 for a 4K Blu-ray? Extras
include making of the film, special effects, injuries, and trailers.
