Sorceress (1995/Synapse Films Blu-ray)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: C Film: C-

Released direct-to-video in 1995 and now considered a cult classic, Director Jim Wynoski's Sorceress (also known as Temptress 2) is an erotic supernatural thriller that stars Linda Blair (The Exorcist), Michael Parks (Kill Bill), and Julie Strain (Queen of B Movies and 1991 Penthouse Pet of the Month). This version of the film is far more 'adult' than previous releases with more sex and violence than you can shake a stick at. This, however, doesn't help make the predictable plot points and so-so performances from being any better but will sure to please fans of the film.

An attorney (Larry Poindexter) is rising through the ranks at a prominent law firm due to his wife's black magic (Julie Strain), but once she tries to kill (and cripples) Larry's co-worker Howard (Edward Albert), his angry sorceress wife (Linda Blair) will stop at nothing until she destroys everything in Larry's life!

Presented in glorious 1080p high definition (with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1) and boasting an all new 2K Transfer in this new un-censored and uncut Director's Approved edition of the film, which looks and sounds fantastic on Blu-ray disc - certainly better than it ever has in previous releases. The audio is up to standards as well with a lossless, English DTS-HD MA English 2.0 Stereo track that is up to par.

Extras include...

Commentary by Director Jim Wynorski

Additional Commentary Track with Wynorski and Tom Savini

Collectible black Blu-ray disc case

Aimed more at frisky couples who are looking for something slightly above a softcore adult film, Sorceress is cheesy '90s direct to video faire that hasn't necessarily gotten much better with age.
