Power: The Complete Second Season (2015/Starz/Anchor Bay 3-Disc Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: C+ Episodes: C

Created by Courtney Kemp Agboh and produced by rapper 50 Cent, Power is a gritty drama that comes to us from Starz and Anchor Bay and definitely ups the ante on dramatic cable television storytelling much like The Sopranos did many years ago. The show starts out with the life of a New York City nightclub owner named Ghost (Hardwick) who also doubles as a fierce drug kingpin who delivers his goods to some pretty high class folks. If word of his double life slips, it could hurt his ultimate scheme and ruin his business, leaving Ghost with a lot at stake. With plenty of crime, sex, and violence to please any action fan, Power stars Omari Hardwick, Adam Huss, and Andy Bean, all here for The Complete Second Season (2015).

The season is comprised of ten episodes that span three discs which include Consequences, No Friends On The Street, Like We're Any Other Couple, You're The Only Person I Can Trust, Who You Are and Who You Want to Be, Why Her?, You’re Not The Man, Three Moves Ahead, Time's Up and Ghost Is Dead.

Power is presented on Blu-ray in sharp 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and an impressive, lossless English Dolby TrueHD 7.1 audio track that sounds really good for the underused format and easily improves upon its original network/digital broadcast. Also on the disc is a Spanish Dolby Surround 2.0 track that isn't as impressive at the 7.1, but still passable. No digital copy.

Special Features include:

Powers Season One Recap

Inside The World of ''Power''

Criminal Network

Journey of Kanan

While the show is not without its moments, ultimately the plot line and some of the characters feel a bit old hat and the show is still missing something, but it is a vast improvement over Season One.
