The Perfect Match (2016/Lionsgate Blu-ray)

Picture: A Sound: A Extras: A Film: A-

Charlie (Terrence Jenkins) has his rules about women, always have fun, never get serious, have sex with them ...and to never, ever become friends with them. When his childhood friends get married, they make a bet with Charlie to see if he can date with only one girl until their wedding, then Charlie meets the mysterious sexy Eva (Cassie Ventura) and for the first time, he begins to believe that there maybe more to life than one night stands in Bille Woodruff's The Perfect Match (2016).

Charlie works as an L.A. talent agent that scouts celebrities, making million dollar deals, and sleeping with the hottest models, managers and actors. He considers himself a man's man, a ladies man, and God's gift to womankind. He's always come out on top of deals (or in bed), but when it comes to settling down, he rather remain 'free'... his 'boyz' (a.k.a. his friends) tired of his Don Juan ways dares him to get serious with a girl for once in his life and to see if he can say he feels the same afterwards. When he meets Eva and feels she's the hottest girl he's ever seen, who accepts his 'rules', she turns out to be just as much as a player as he is. However, when Charlie discovers Eva already is engaged/to be soon married to someone else ...for the first time, Charlie wants something he just can't have ...or can he?

This was a romantic comedy film, filmed on location in actual California, the movie shows it's beautiful vistas and where the rich and famous lives. It shows million-dollar dream houses for men to bring home and score any beautiful women he wants. In the end, the main character had to face his own karma, after years of screwing all the women he's been with, he finally get screwed by the one girl he can't have. Only after losing the girl, does he see how much a jerk he's been and to value true friends and relationships. Paula Patton, Brandy Norwood, Donald Faison and Joe Pantoliano also star among the solid supporting cast.

The 1.78 X 1 1080p digital High Definition image and DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mix are top rate and for such a rom com with some drama, that is unusual. However, Director Woodruff is a longtime music video director, lensing hit clips for hit songs by Brian McKnight, Lil' Kim, Toni Braxton, R. Kelly, Dru Hill, The Backstreet Boys, Gloria Estefan, Tevin Campbell, Luther Vandross, Outkast, Chico DeBarge, Usher, Shanice, Timbaland, Ginuwine, Celine Dion, Keith Washington, Jody Watley, Salt 'n' Pepa, Kelly Price, Jermaine Dupri, Tricia Yearwood, Chante Moore, 98 Degrees, BeBe Winans, Ray J, Snoop Dog, Lil' Wayne, Fat Joe, Nelly, Babyface, Christina Milian, 3LW and The Isley Brothers!

With one of the most consistent and enduring track records in that art form, there should be no surprise this presentation is top rate. This is his sixth theatrical feature film. Is it a personal-best breakthrough? Now you can see for yourself.

Extras include Making Of the film piece, feature-length audio commentary track, What's Love Without Comedy?, Let the Good Times Roll, Chillin' with the Cast and Crew and trailers.
