Blindspot: The Complete First Season (2015 - 2016/Warner Blu-ray set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: B Episodes: B

Inspired no doubt from Christopher Nolan's Memento, NBC's new series Blindspot with acclaimed director Mark Pellington (The Mothman Prophecies, Arlington Road, various shorts & music videos) at the helm, the series boasts an interesting cast including Jaime Alexander (Lady Sif in Marvel's Thor franchise), Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of the Empire), and rising star Ashley Johnson (Marvel's The Avengers, Growing Pains) to name a few. Warner brings us this packed Blu-ray edition of the First Season with a great transfer and some cool extras that will no doubt please fans of the show and help usher in the hype for the upcoming Second Season.

Jane Doe (Alexander) unzips out of a body bag naked in Times Square with no memory of who she is and her body covered in elaborate tattoos that all hold the key to her identity. Tattooed on her back is the name of a FBI Agent Kurt Weller (Stapleton) - though the two have never met. Soon, the Police realize that the markings on her body are warning signs of various terrorist attacks across New York City. Jane works with the police and realizes that she is very keen on self defense and combat and becomes an asset in the investigation of various crimes that spell out clues, all whilst discovering her true identity.

This debut season is comprised of 23 episodes including Who Is Jane Doe?, Taylor Shaw, The Missing Girl, Or Maybe Not, The Past Will, Cloud Our Eyes, Trust No One, Suspect Everyone, Lift The Curtain, And Unveil The Mastermind, In Case Of Emergency, Follow These Instructions, Stay Where You Are, Find A Secure Line, To Contact Your Handler, Find What You Need, In Almost The Last Place You Look, To Begin The Sequence, Focus On The Time, Then Wait For The Address, To Your New Safehouse, The Final Order Will Be Revealed, and When Its Filed Away.

Presented in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a crystal clear English lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 (48kHz, 16-bit) that significantly improve the look and feel of the show from the original HD Broadcast. Also included is a digital copy of the series for your smart phone or tablet.

I found Blindspot to be an entertaining thrill ride. Mixed with the feel of an NCIS-type show, along with the Memento-esque angle of Jane Doe not remembering her past and the tattoos all holding a different meaning, one of the most original programs that NBC has produced in years.
