Puerto Ricans In Paris (2015/Focus/Universal Blu-ray)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: D Film: C

Director Ian Edelman's new fish out of water comedy Puerto Ricans in Paris (2015) is fun and innocent starring comedians Luis Guzman and Edgar Garcia. The goofy story is backdrop to beautiful backdrops in Paris (obviously) and New York City that shine in HD. However, the predictable plot and stale jokes form the innocent film into mediocre territory. The film also stars Alice Taglioni, Rosie Perez, and Rosario Dawson.

Two New York detectives (Guzman, Garcia) both have very different lives. Guzman is a single guy with an on and off again girlfriend (Dawson) whilst Garcia is a family man with a troubled marriage (with Perez) and four mouths to feed. Hot off the success of retrieving a counterfeit handbag, they are soon bribed into working under cover in Paris to catch a thief who's threatening to flood the fashion market with bootlegged handbags. Head of the case is the gorgeous Alice Taglioni, who really radiates on the screen, and who makes both men swoon in the meantime.

Presented in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.39:1 and a lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 track that brings the film to life in high definition, performance is better than your usual comedy. As mentioned, the locations look fantastic in high def and the detail is impeccable throughout. A digital copy is also included.
