Back
for an explosive Season 2, the Dave Filoni-directed Star
Wars Rebels animated series reunites us with many of our favorite
characters from the first season such as Ezra, Kanan, Chopper, Hera
and others along with appearances from classic characters such as
Darth Maul, Ashoka Tano (Anakin's former apprentice from the Star
Wars: Clone Wars series), and even the menacing Darth Vader
himself.
Upping
the quality of animation, including some thrilling space battle
sequences, the show further develops its characters and ties it in
the universe as a whole - serving as a bridge between the Prequel
Trilogy and the Classic Trilogy. Voice talents include Freddie
Prinze Jr., David Oyelowo, Taylor Gray, Tiya Sircar, Steve Blum,
James Earl Jones, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Vanessa Marshall.
Having
seen both Clone Wars series in their entireties, I can safely
say that I prefer Rebels. The humor of the original trilogy
is on display here as well as many familiar character designs
(specifically in the classic Stormtroopers and Imperial starships)
and the return of many of the Clone leaders such as Captain Rex from
the Prequel Trilogy add to the awe and wonder of it all. There are
many great moments in this season including a pivotal one where
Ashoka must face off against Darth Vader, her former master, and the
introduction of new villainous Inquisitor characters.
Episodes
include The Siege of Lothal, The Lost Commanders, Relics of the
Old Republic, Always Two There Are, Brothers of the Broken Horn,
Wings of the Master, Blood Sisters, Stealth Strike, The Future of the
Force, Legacy, A Princess on Lothal, The Protector of Concord Dawn,
Legends of the Lasat, The Call, Homecoming, The Honorable Ones,
Shroud of Darkness, The Forgotten Droid, The Mystery of Chopper Base,
and the season finale Twilight of the Apprentice.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and
an excellent sounding, yet lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track (why no
lossless track?), the Blu-ray significantly brings out the detail in
the animation and improves upon the original television broadcast.
That makes it a worthwhile investment for any fan of Star Wars
animation.

features include:

Star Wars Rebels: Season 2 further compliments the fans by

uniques adds to the Star Wars experience.
