That's Sexploitation! (2013/Severin Films Blu-ray)

Basket Case Director Frank Henenlotter's 2013 documentary That's Sexploitation! (2013), produced by the late Mike Vraney (founder of Something Weird Video), centers around the history of sexploitation in a hilarious and factual way. Starting out with some humble beginnings in the silent era that barely resemble anything even remotely sexy, it's interesting to see how over time more and more things were able to reach the public and pass censors to now where basically anything goes (especially now in the world of the internet). Henelotter stars in the documentary as himself, an interesting angle on the piece, as he courts David F. Freidman (known as The Mighty Monarch of Exploitation and his last film appearance) head on and the two dive as deep into the history of the medium as possible.

Using clips from the vast archive of Something Weird Video, Henenlotter takes you on an all access tour of sexploitation that will please any fan of the adult film genre and even caters to film historians as well. Many of the clips get pretty sleazy, so be sure you know what you're signing up for when giving this disc a spin.

Presented 1080p high definition in 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio (even when some clips are 1.33 X 1, et al) and a lossless Dolby TrueHD 2.0 Stereo track, the film looks and sounds fine on Blu-ray disc. Though some of the elements in the documentary are obviously old, monophonic and dated, the quality varies from clip to clip, but overall it looks great.

Special Features include an Audio Commentary With Director Henenlotter and Something Weird's Lisa Petrucci and 3+ Hours Of Sexploitation Shorts From The Something Weird Archives
