The Catch: The Complete First Season (2016/ABC/Disney DVD Set)

Picture: B Sound: B- Extras: C Episodes: B+

Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) is a private investigator/security for the extremely wealthy of L.A., but she got stood up on her wedding day and her firm was tricked by a world class con artist, Benjamin Jones or a.k.a. 'Christopher' (Peter Krause). Alice is now determined to catch her 'ex', but when he doesn't steal anything and even helps her out on more than a few cases she doesn't know if she wants to catch him or kiss him in The Catch: The Complete First Season (2016).

Alice Vaughan is a high powered investigator and she and her firm specializes in catching world class criminals. Unfortunately, she was unable to see, catch or realize she has been sleeping with one for the last year. Ben Jones is a world class lady killer and uses his charms to charm wealthy heiresses, infiltrate corporations for espionage, but he does the last thing a thief should ever do, fall in love with his intended victim. Now, both Alice and Ben are caught between various cases, FBI and the international mob.

My first impression was they used too much make up on the characters, it felt like they were trying to hide their ages, but in time, the characters and series grows on you with the whole cat and mouse game between the detective and thief. In the end it is about a thief trying to turn good, but in order to get out of the mob he has to resort to his old habit; meanwhile, he has to choose between his love and his loyalties.

The 1.78 X 1 anamorphically enhanced image looks as good as it can for the format, while the lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is not bad, but is lacking at times. Extras include bloopers and deleted scenes.
