Aoharu X Machine Gun: Complete Collection (2015/Sentai Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: C Episodes: B+

Hotaru Tachibana is a tomboyish girl finds herself joining an airsoft team when she went to avenge her friend's honor from host club. Masamune Matsuoka mistakes Hotaru for a boy and decides he wants Hotaru on his airsoft team, Toy GunGun. At first, Hotaru is reluctant to play with Matsouka, but then learns she is a natural and that she has a passion for the game, but will she be able to keep 'her' secret from the boys?

In Aoharu X Machine Gun: Complete Collection (2015), Hotaru believes she is a champion of justice and ends up challenging her neighbor who also happens to be a popular host in a host club, Masamune Matsuoka. After losing the challenge, Matsuoka introduces Hotaru to the world of airsoft guns and survival tournaments. Soon, she learns there is more to the game than shooting guns, Matsuoka learns Hotaru is a fiend with gun and together they learn about friendships and teamwork.

This was another 'game' themed anime, in particular playing with airsoft guns with BB pellets. While it isn't about guns or encouraging kids to play with guns (even if they are fake or toy guns) the series is about the spirit of rivalry, friends, teamwork and competition. As usual, all the characters are all either crazy or eccentrics, including a bit of genderbending with tomboy girl who looks more like a pretty boy.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image transfers on all episodes look really good throughout with only minor limits, while the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Stereo lossless sound with Pro Logic-like surrounds are available in Japanese and English mixes, the Japanese is superior. Extras include clean opening and closing animations and trailer.
