Wakaba Girl: Complete Collection (2015/Sentai Blu-ray)

Picture: B Sound: B Extras: C Episodes: C+

Wakaba is an extremely wealthy (and sheltered) girl who just arrived at Shirozume Girls High School. There, she makes friends with Mao, Nao and Moeko, as they educate their minds and bodies the learn to have fun together in Wakaba Girl: Complete Collection (2015).

Wakaba may be a rich girl, but all she ever wanted was to be trendy 'gyaru' fashion high school girl. She leads a group of girls Mao, Nao and Moeko in doing all sorts of girlish activities and to learn what it is to be a 'normal' girl. While a bit naive and innocent, the girls enjoy spending time together with the energetic Wakaba.

Be warned... this was a very short anime, each episode is no more than 10 minutes long! It is all about being cutesy and 'moe', it makes fun of girls, fashion and culture. We've seen worse, but there is simply only so much here.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image transfer on all episodes looks pretty good throughout, is as good as it can be in the format and as good as this simpler animation can get, while the Japanese DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Stereo lossless mix is warm, rich, well-recorded and is a fine match with the image. Extras include clean opening animation and trailers.
