The Legend Of Korra: The Complete Series (2012 - 2015/Nickelodeon Blu-ray Box Set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: B+ Episodes: B

The animated series sequel to the hit Nickelodeon show Avatar: The Last Airbender lands on Blu-ray disc in one set as The Legend Of Korra: The Complete Series (2012 - 2015) with all four seasons (known here as 'books' and reviewed in detail separately in all four parts elsewhere on this site). which include Book One: Air, Book Two: Spirits, Book Three: Change, and Book Four: Balance. This is a great watch for anime fans and fantasy fans in general as there are plenty of colorful characters and unique fighting sequences that will hold a child's attention as well as an adults.

The show centers around the next Avatar, who is a waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. The seasons follow her journeys to Republic City to master the sacred art of Airbending so that she can the Equalistics - who are starting a revolution against all that she stands for.

The Legend of Korra features the voice talents of Janet Varney, David Faustino, Seychelle Gabriel, J.K. Simmons, Mindy Sterling, and Dee Bradley Baker. Directors for the episodes include Joaquim Dos Santos, Ki Hyun Ryu, Melchior Zwyer, Ian Graham, Colin Heck, and Michael Dante DiMartino.

Presented in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1, the image presentation is comparable to a digital broadcast release only sharper. There is no doubt that this is the most detailed look at the show you can get. The sound mix is impressive and a step up from the broadcast with a DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 5.1 track that doesn't disappoint.

There are over five hours worth of special features on the disc which include various featurettes, audio commentaries and more that will satisfy fans. Also included is the Blu-ray-only book: The Art of the Animated Series, which is included in the release.

Fans of the show won't want to miss this release, nor will fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
