Oscar nominated for his role in the film, Gregory Peck stars in Fox's The Keys of the Kingdom (1944), which is a thrilling adaptation of an acclaimed novel by A.J. Cronin. The film features stunning cinematography by Arthur Miller and a fantastic score by Alfred Newman - all of which make this for a pretty entertaining, if not at times slow, film. Twilight Time delivers a great release here that fans of Gregory Peck won't want to miss.

The film also stars Vincent Price, Thomas Mitchell, Roddy McDowall, and Rose Stradner to name a few.

A young priest, Father Chisholm (Peck) is sent to China to establish a Catholic parish among the non-Christian Chinese. While his boyhood friend, also a priest, flourishes in his calling as a priest in a more Christian area of the world, Father Chisholm struggles. He encounters hostility, isolation, disease, poverty and a variety of set backs which humble him, but make him more determined than ever to succeed. Over the span of many years, he gains acceptance and a growing congregation among the Chinese, through his quiet determination, understanding and patience.

Presented in black and white 1080p high definition with a full frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and a great sounding lossless English 2.0 DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) track, the film looks and sounds better than it ever has before on various formats, especially DVD. Also on the disc is an English 1.0 DTS-HD MA track that sounds pretty clean too. I'm a fan of watching black and white films on Blu-ray and this release is no exception.

Special Features include...

Isolated Score Track with music by Alfred Newman

Audio Commentary with Film Historians Kenneth Geist and Chris Mankiewicz

Original Theatrical Trailer

Collectible Insert booklet/packaging with great Julie Kirgo essay
