Homeland: The Complete Fifth Season (2016/20th Century Fox Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B Sound: C+ Extras: B Episodes; B+

Even when Carrie (Claire Danes) is out of the game, she still finds her way in... where she wants to or not. When an American journalist discovers a conspiracy between American and German intelligence agencies it kick starts a chain reaction that threatens the entire safety of Eastern Europe. Carrie finds herself in the middle of another imminent terrorist attack, she becomes a both a target and liability ...and she is the only one who can stop them in Homeland: The Complete Fifth Season (2016).

After the embarrassing fiasco/PR nightmare, Saul must deal with the aftermath that their entire European spy network is compromised. That America have been illegally spying on behalf of German government (because it's illegal for one's own government to spy on it's own people) to hunt and assassinate terrorists. Anti-governments and terrorists take the opportunity to move and attain WMD (weapons of mass destruction) and further their causes. Unfortunately for Carrie, neither the agency or terrorists believe Carrie is NOT connected to these events, she must not only deal with terrorists but find a double agent (who also want her dead) who has compromised the intelligence agency and threaten the lives of thousands.

While the series Homeland includes several real world subjects in their story such as ISIS, Putin, Snowden, etc.... The American Government does NOT illegally spy on citizens or other countries to find and kill terrorists. The American Government does NOT make backdoor deals with other intelligence agencies in the name of homeland security. The American Government does NOT use torture or have unsanctioned black ops assassinations. The American Government NOT have any spies or agents are involved with the safety of other countries, their national securities or to do with WMDs. This is all a fictional drama. BUT the series does makes the CIA look justified in why the intelligence agency SHOULD have unlimited funding and SHOULD be able to do ANYTHING in the name of homeland security. Journalism, freedom of the press and information is a threat/liability and should be sacrificed when it comes to the sake of national security or fighting terrorism.

Presented in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a lossless DTS-Master Audio 5.1 track, the picture is in keeping with the way the show looked, but the sound is disappointing at times. Extras include The Evolution of Carrie Mathison and Homeland in Berlin: Beyond the Wall.
