The Hospital 2 (2015/MVD Visual DVD)

Picture: B Sound: B Extras: C Film: D

There's no real nice way to put it, but The Hospital 2 (2015) is one of the worst horror films I've seen in recent memory. The best way to describe this is that someone watched Fred Vogel's twisted underground film Maskhead, Human Centipede 2, and every Rob Zombie movie and decided they were going to make it with a bunch of their friends for peanuts. There isn't much in terms of story here and there are so many instances of poor acting and effects, that it took me out of the film very early on. Somehow, they got Scream Queen Debbie Rochon to make an appearance and she does what she can with what she is given, but it doesn't save this trainwreck.

Old St. Leopold's Hospital was the site of some of the most grisly acts of rape, torture, and murder that the country has ever seen. The survivors walked away changed, emotionally broken from the first film and struggle to piece back their lives. They soon find themselves drawn back to the evil Hospital where they find themselves back in a mess worse than they were before.

The film also stars Betsy Rue, Jim O'Rear, Daniel Emery Taylor, and Scott Temperman.

Presented in standard definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, The Hospital 2 looks and sounds fine for the DVD format and based on the low budget production here, a high definition upgrade wouldn't make too much of a difference.
