Surf's Up 2: WaveMania (2017/Sony DVD)

Picture: B Sound: B Extras: A* Film: B

Join Cody an his friends as they join the legendary Hang Five Team as they search for the ultimate wave and run into WWE people (who apparently love surfing too) in Surf's Up 2: WaveMania (2017). It's a big chance for Cody to prove to his idols that he has what it takes to join the team, but he's not alone as turns out he, his friends Chicken Joe, Lani and even his nemesis Tank are all nominees for a spot on the Hang Five team.

Cody has always dreamed of hitting it big time and join the Hang Five team. He has the moves, he has the guts, but is it enough to prove he's what it takes? The Hang Five team heads to the mysterious Slaughter Island to search for the ultimate wave to ride. They'll surf water, sand or even lava. As Cody competes however, he learns there is no "I" on a team and he'll have to decide what is more important to him, his fame or his friends?

This was a funny surf movie with 'cute' buffed out penguins, voiced by WWE Superstars, including John Cena, the Undertaker, Triple H, Paige and even Mr. McMahon. It's is about looking cool, having fun, being safe and the importance of the team.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix are as fine as they could possibly be for the format, looking and sounding real good. Why no Blu-ray? Hmm. Extras include Bloopers, Behind the Mic: Hanging with the Dream Team, Chicken Joe's Extreme Slaughter Island Tour, How to Draw Your Favorite Characters with Henry Yu, Inside the Music with Toby Chu and trailers. A series of special gift versions with action figures of various WWE stars have also been issued with this disc.
