Graves: Season One (2016/Lionsgate DVD Set)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: B Episodes: C+

No doubt a nod to former President George W. Bush, Graves stars Nick Nolte as a former POTUS (and was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance) who tries to reclaim his former Political glory 25 years after leaving the Oval Office. Featuring a stellar supporting cast in Sela Ward, Ernie Hudson, Skylar Astin, Helene Yorke, Chris Lowell, and Callie Hernandez, the show was a hit on the Epix Channel (recently greenlit for a second second) and has now found its way onto home video courtesy of Lionsgate. For fans of The West Wing, this show is bound to entertain fans of Political television and Politics in general, but may fail to impress as heavily those who are not.

Episodes include Evil Good and Good Evil, You Started Everything, Nothing Can Come From Nothing, That Dare Not Speak, Lions in Winter, A Tincture of Madness, The Careless Giant, TV is the Shepard, Through A Glass Gravely, and Not Giants But Windmills.

Presented in standard definition with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the presentation here is pretty standard for DVD and nothing particularly impressive. A step slightly above the original broadcast. As with anything, it could benefit from a high def. release.
