Casablancas: The Man Who Loved Women (2016/First Run DVD)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: D Film: B

John Casablancas was quite the lucky man being able to discover some of the most beautiful women the modeling industry has ever known. With a huge impact on pop culture as well, he was known as the ''Man Behind the Women'' as the founded of Elite Model Management in 1972, which was one of the most successful. However, with fame and fortune always comes a price and this interesting documentary gives us a peak behind the curtain and puts us in his shoes, as examined in the new documentary Casablancas: The Man Who Loved Women (2016).

Directed by Hubert Woronbiecki, who was a close friend of Casablancas, we get to learn about the man who created the concept of the 'supermodels' rise and fall, told by the man himself. This film is pretty thorough with loads of home movies and photos and archival television appearances and its 86-minutes runtime goes by in a breeze.

Presented on DVD in standard definition with a varying widescreen aspect ratios as it puts into full frame and normal 1.78 X 1 from time to time, but its 1,78 X 1 overall with the 1.33 X 1 window and pillarboxed. The lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track is fine for the format. Most of the film is driven by voice-over narration that accompanies some animated segments, which is an interesting way of telling the story.

No extras.

I would suggest checking this film out if you are interested in the subject. I can definitely see a narrative big budget of this story happening someday.
