The Legend Of Chupacabras (2016/Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: C Sound: C Extras: D Main Program: B

Young Leo finds himself in the middle of a civil war between the Mexican Army and the Freedom Fighters. He is captured along with the Freedom Fighters and they are imprisoned in a broken monastery. But soon, both the Freedom Fighters and soldiers find themselves hunted by the legendary Chupacabras and if they don't work together... no one will escape alive in the new animated release The Legend Of Chupacabras (2016).

Leo never believed in urban legends until he met one: The Chupacabras, said to drain the life and blood of any living thing. Long ago they were said to be creatures from a magical world, but now they are hunted down as monsters. Now, along with his magical imaginary friends, they seek to not only escape the creepy monastery and to discover why the Chupacabras are after them.

This was your average cartoon folk lore story, like Big Foot or the Boogieman. Legends and folklore of long ago were all meant to scary and to teach children. It is often about conquering fear and evil... but often it is also not what it seems, but evil from within ...and that the greatest fear and evil is often the one within ourselves.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix are both a little soft and underwhelming, but passable. Extras includes trailers.
