Cathy's Curse (1977/Severin Blu-ray)

Picture: B+ Sound: B Extras: B+ Film: C+

Director Eddy Matalon's 1977 supernatural possession film Cathy's Curse lands on Blu-ray in grand fashion thanks to Severin Films, with a startling 2K high definition restoration that is above and beyond expectations when compared to previous releases. If you like films like Carrie, The Omen, and The Exorcist, then you owe Cathy's Curse a watch!

While not the best horror film ever made, there's plenty to like about Cathy's Curse that makes it a quite charming and entertaining B-Horror film such as decent special effects makeup and some startling moments. What Severin does best is take rare, forgotten horror titles, bring them up to standards with startling restorations complete with fantastic extras and Cathy's Curse is no different!

The film stars Randi Allen, Alan Scarfe, Beverly Murray, and Mary Morter.

Cathy (Allen) is an eight year old girl that is spending some time with her Family in a nice house in the countryside. This luxurious estate was once home to Cathy's Father - who died in a terrible car accident with her eight year old aunt many years ago. After Cathy goes poking around in the creepy attic, she discovers a bizarre picture of her dead aunt and ultimately becomes possessed. Soon, everyone within arms reach is in danger as the possessed Cathy begins her reign of terror!

Presented on Blu-ray disc in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and a lossless, English DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Mono track, both cuts of the film look better than ever before. The colors are nicely saturated throughout and even the newly found film elements look up to standards. This is very nice restoration work that needs to be seen to be believed.
