Chad Archibald's Bite (2015) is one of the grossest movies I've seen in a while, which is saying something because I watch a lot of horror. In the same vein as Slither, Cabin Fever, and The Fly, this ''body horror'' movie shows a young woman's transition from drop dead gorgeous to barely human. Filmed effectively on a small budget and featuring a great performance by Elma Begovic as Casey, Bite is a film only for those that have a strong stomach!

Casey and her cute friends go on a bachelorette party in Costa Rica and have the time of their lives (even though Casey ends up making some bad decisions and loses her wedding ring during the trip). Once she gets back, things aren't quite the same with her fiance and a bite mark that she got from an insect during the trip is not only growing, but leaking gross puss as well. Confronted by her evil mother-in-law to be and her unusual body transformation, Casey is quickly becoming something very unnatural and there's no stopping it!

Presented in standard definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and a nice sounding 5.1 Dolby Digital lossless English track, the film looks as good as it can on DVD and sadly no Blu-ray version has yet been made available. The opening of the film is hand-cam (found footage) style as the rest of the film has a more cinematic look.

I was definitely surprised by how disturbing (and fun!) Bite was. I would suggest it to those who like a gross-out horror film every now and then. Especially seeing that this film has a lower budget, the production design and effects are pretty spot on.
