Property Is No Longer A Theft (1973/MVD Visual/Arrow Blu-ray w/DVD)

Picture: B+/B- Sound: B/B- Extras: B Film: B

Another acclaimed Italian film from Director Elio Petri, Property Is No Longer A Theft (1973) starts out with an action packed bank robbery and is relentless in its comedic look at capitalism as the final part of a trilogy he made over the years on the subject and its connection to the neurotic. Presented in grand HD fashion by Arrow Academy, the film looks and sounds fantastic with a great score by Ennio Morricone and very interesting cinematography that has been restored from the original film elements.

The film stars Ugo Tognazzi, Flavio Bucci (Argento's Suspiria), Daria Nicolodi (Deep Red), and Mario Scaccia to name a few.

When Total (Bucci), a banker, becomes bored with his life and envious of those who frequent his bank, he decides to start a new life. Obsessed with screwing over The Butcher (Tognazzi), a rich but disrespectful client, Total takes out a 10 Million Lira loan and torments him by stealing his possessions, including his mistress.

Presented from a 4K high definition master from the original 35mm materials in 1080p here on Blu-ray disc, the transfer preserves the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio accompanied with a great sounding PCM Mono 1.0 track that has also been restored. The film has stunning cinematography and a wide color palette that accurately portrays its subjects. Also included is a standard definition DVD of the film with matching widescreen aspect ratio and similar audio specs, but isn't as detailed as the Blu.
