Jordan
Peele (known for his hit Comedy Central series Key
and Peele
and 2016's Keanu)
makes a departure from comedy and into the horror genre in possibly
the best reviewed film of early 2017, Get
Out.
The film is a superb social commentary on racism as it exists in
America in modern day. while throwing in a Stepford
Wives
(1975)/Twilight
Zone-esque
twist to the story. Also really well shot and acted, the hit is a
rare example of a film that lives up to the hype.

Out
stars Allison Williams (HBO's Girls),
Bradley Whitford (Cabin
in the Woods),
Catherine Keener (Being
John Malkovich),
and Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario).
Chris
(Kaluuya) and his girlfriend Rose (Williams) have a pretty serious
relationship going on and she invites him to meet her family at their
secluded home upstate. On the way, they run into a deer, which
should have been a warning sign... but when Chris gets there, he
finds her family quite accommodating, ultimately starts to feel
racial tension as he sees that the family has black servants working
for them (who all seem to be in a sort of trance) and some pretty
wild ideologies. When he gets to know Missy and Dean (Whitford and
Keener), Chris soon feels like there is something bizarre going on
within this family that is far beyond anything that it appears to be.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and
a lossless English DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 track, the film looks
and sounds great on Blu-ray disc, but could be even more stunning in
4K. Character detail is on point and the soundtrack is creepy and
hits the right notes. Also included is a standard edition DVD of the
film with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and a lossy
Dolby Digital 5.1 track.
