Outsiders: Season Two (2017/Final Season/Sony DVD Set)

Picture: B- Sound: B Extras: B Episodes: B

The Outsiders returns for its Second and Final Season on DVD. Shot on location in the Appalachian Mountains, the show centers around the dirty mountain people in the Farrell Clan, as they are at odds with their nearby town of Blackburg, Kentucky, no matter how brutal. Living in modern day, but choosing to not enjoy any of the technological advancements or luxuries, the Farrells are hardcore and live mentally in the past. In many ways, the series reminds me of 300-type Spartan story only instead of being set in the past with ancient warriors, it's set in the modern era.

Outsiders stars David Morse, Joe Anderson, Gillian Alexy, Ryan Hurst, Kyle Gallner, Christina Jackson, and Thomas M. Wright. The series was created by Peter Mattei.

Thirteen episodes span four DVDs that include And The Three Shall Save You, Shadowside, Banishment, How We Hunt, We Are Kinnah, Kill or be Killed, Home For Supper, Healing, Loyal To The Bone, Stranger In A Strange Land, The Run, What Must Be Done, and Unbroken Chain.

Presented on standard definition DVD with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the show looks and sounds on par with the original digital television broadcast if not on HD, and is presented on DVD uncut and commercial free, which will be refreshing for the fans. A Blu-ray version would be an upgrade as much of the character details are lost in this transfer, but it is passable to say the least.

A decent show that could have stuck have stuck around a bit longer, The Outsiders will live on in the DVD format as well as On Demand, but sadly, the Farrell's reign has ended.
