Prisoner X (2015/RLJ DVD)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: C Film: C

The Canadian Sci-fi/thriller Prisoner X (2015), Directed by Gaurav Seth, is a solid concept that isn't quite where it needs to be as a screenplay or as a film. Inspired by Primer (2004) and a little Inception (2010), the film is based on a short novella named Truth by Robert Reed and has enough political messages and twists and turns, but is maybe a bit too long winded for its own good. All that aside, it's decently well made with some interesting performances and decent production design.

The film stars Julian Richings, Michelle Nolden, Damon Runyan, Romano Orzari, and Nigel Bennett to name a few.

As the world rages in war and civil strife, a CIA agent arrives at a secret underground prison to interrogate a time-traveling terrorist. Once she realizes how deadly he is, she soon how powerful he is and his deadly connection to the world's impending fall.

Presented in standard definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the film looks and sounds standard for DVD. The score by Patric Gaird is pretty strong and sounds good matched with the decent cinematography of the film.
