Musician
JTK's symphonic sounds soothe on this new self-titled Blu-ray release
of a collection of twelve tracks from this emerging artist. I was
expecting a live performance or at least a video introduction of some
sort, but instead was treated to this unique animated presentation
and 51 minutes of music, which is about the norm for a studio album.
While it sounds computer generated it is, in fact, modular analog
synthesizers augmented with acoustic instruments. This interesting
blend the JTK describes it as have a more ''human'' feel.
Being
an indie LA based musician, JTK soon realized that he had amassed a
large catalog of tracks, and was convinced by a friend to ''put it
out there.'' Thus began his quest to figure out how best to release
high-resolution, surround music, which is not a mainstream format.
Soon, he met Mark Waldrew (credited as ''Dr. AIX'' on the disc),
owner of AIX Records, who has released award-winning music in this
format for almost twenty years (we've been covering their interesting
releases for years), providing JTK
(2017) with the visuals (with slightly resemble something you would
see on a iTunes or Windows Media player visualizer) to accompany his
music on this Blu-ray release.
Twelve
songs span the disc, which include Prophet,
Bubbles, Stand Up, Bounce, Dystopia, Tunnels, 55 2, Omega, Risky 1,
Toughten Up, Climb,
and Spaceland.
The
presentation is in 1080p HD (1920X1080). The colors are bright with
portions of the screen keep in dark blacks. What is impressive is
the quality of sound, which met the artist's goal, with a 5.1 Dolby
TrueHD lossless ''stage'' max perspective track that sounds spot on.
Also on the disc is a PCM 2.0 Stereo mix if you have more limited
equipment.
No
extras.
I
enjoyed this visual music album and am looking forward to hearing
more.
