Bitcoin Heist (2016/Well Go Blu-ray w/DVD)

Picture: B/C+ Sound: B/C+ Extras: C- Film: B+

In the near future, thieves are hackers in a world of 'bitcoin' and stealing is about transferring online digital currency. In order to catch greatest elusive mysterious hacker known only as the 'Ghost'. Interpol decides to use a team of misfits thieves to catch the 'Ghost', but the problem is, when there is a fortune ...how can you trust any thief to not want to steal it for themselves?

In Ham Tran's Bitcoin Heist (2016), a magician, a con man, a cat burglar, a hacker and an inside man are blackmailed and forced to work together helping the police to bring down the most wanted cyber hacker in Vietnam, the 'Ghost'. Agent Dada has a plan to access a private high tech vault with a computer that leads to proof to who the 'Ghost' is and access to the Ghost's fortune, but when their plan suddenly goes south, everything is not what it seems and it is each thief for themselves ...and there are no honor among thieves.

This movie reminded me a bit of the Ocean's Eleven films (its better than most of them) with all the planning and preparation with a group of thieves trying beat a high tech vault and out smart an army of guards who are guarding it. To catch a thief, police use more thieves to catch one. Evidence and proof are no longer material objects but digital code, but the plot had a unexpected twist when it turns out the 'Ghost' was one of them all along.

The 1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image looks good for an HD shoot, but has some flaws, as does the Vietnamese DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless soundmix that sounds good, yet is not a breakout mix. The anamorphically enhanced 2.35 X 1 DVD with lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is weaker still, passable-at-best for that older format.

Extras include trailers.
