Shooter: Season One (2016 - 2017/Universal DVD Set)

Picture: B Sound: B Extras: C- Episodes: B

Based on the horrid 2007 action film that may well be the nadir of Mark Wahlberg's big screen career, Ryan Phillippe now plays Bob Lee Swagger, a retired ex-marine sniper who finds himself called back to service when his old friend Isaac in the Secret Service asks him to help prevent a plot to assassinate of the President. But when the President still gets assassinated, Bob Lee realizes only too late that he is being framed and fall guy for the assassination. On the run he has to not only prove his innocence but also protect those he cares about in Shooter: Season One (2016 - 2017).

Bob Lee scopes out places and find places to possible snipe and assassinate the President, but turns out they were using him to help come up with a plan to assassinate the President and then for him to take the fall for it. Along with a disgraced FBI agent Nadine, Bob and Nadine discover a conspiracy within the FBI, CIA and Secret Service. Bob must once more fall back on his old military skills and contacts to not only elude the government but also hunt down those who framed him. Meanwhile, Isaac is tasked with hunting Bob down he begins to question the conspiracy and if there is a leak in national security.

This is your typical action packed series for those who love conspiracies theories and is a military nut. That for the sake of homeland security there should be an increase in government militarization and they are justified to do anything to protect in the name of the 'United States of America'. Like usual, the main character is innocent and framed, and finds themselves against the government and an army of assassins. Look for Omar Epps, Josh Stewart, Jason Gedrick, Beverly D'Angelo, Jesse Bradford and Tom Sizemore too.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix are as good as they can get for the format and look as good as the old feature film ever did. The only extra is The Making of Shooter featurette.
