To Heart 2: Complete Collection (2005 - 2006/Season Two/Maiden Japan/Sentai Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: C- Episodes: B+

Based on the popular dating sim and the original To Heart series, To Heart 2 returns with a new cast of hero and heroines. As Takaaki enters high school, he finds there is a lot more things changing than their uniforms. He finds himself suddenly surrounded by girls and is reunited with childhood friends Konomi and Tamaki ...and they all want his attention. As they journey from day to day and from one class to the next, they learn more about love, romance and growing up. So many girls, who will Takaaki choose?

In this Second Season (2005 - 2006), Takaaki is in his second year of High School, but this year he is surrounded by girls and reunited with his childhood friends Konomi, the girl next door (who is more like his little sister) and 'big sister' Tamaki who transferred back to their school. He soon meets other girls and when he helps them out they end up falling for him as well. The quiet shy librarian Manaka. Yuma the tomboy girl who is Takaaki's rival (self proclaimed). Karin the mystery occult research girl. Lucy who says she is an alien. The Himeyuri twins, Sango & Ruri, and Ilfa the maid robot.

This is one of the early anime that helped started turning dating sims games into anime, it is well known for it's popular characters and stereotypes. Each episode involves main character helping out a female and then winning her friendship and affections. The relationships are of school yard romances mixed with a slice of life

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is fine, has a nice, even unusual color range and is impressive, if not the very best Sentai has issued. The lossless Japanese DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Stereo with Pro Logic-like surrounds is the equal of the image sounding fine throughout and one only wishes a 5.1 option existed. Extras only include trailers.
