Lunar Legend Tsukihime 3 – Nocturnal Fire (Animé TV)

Picture: C+     Sound: B-     Extras: C-     Episodes: C+

She’s a vampire, so why can she not find true love?  Maybe it is the teleplay.  We have picked up the third volume of the Lunar Legend Tsukihime series with its third DVD volume and cannot believe this could be such a sappy, melodramatic story that happens to involve any vampire.  Love At First Bite seems like Blade by comparison.  The shows here by title even suggest otherwise:

9) Death

10) Vernition

11) Misfortune Night

12) Lunar World

This is aimed for ages above 16 years old, but is obviously aimed particularly at a young female audience.  Buffy – The Vampire Slayer, film and TV series, may be the reason this was produced the way it was.  I am not a fan of that show either.  The four run 100 minutes, so each of the four are intended for half-hour time slots.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is purposely soft throughout, more so than usual for the genre.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has just enough Pro Logic surrounds to make it the highlight of this disc by default.  A few trailers for other Geneon Animé TV product is included, but that is it.  That should dispel any ambiguity about this series.
