In Living Color – Season Three set
Picture:

It had
been a mixed second season for In Living
Color, so a sort of artistic comeback was needed. In the first episode of Season Three, two new cast members
are introduced: a new Fly Girl named Jennifer Lopez and new comedian named
Jamie Foxx. Yes, the show was on its
was to another classic season.
Contained
on three DVDs, episodes of which originally ran from September 1991 to May
1992, bring back the “Men On” skits, Homey The Clown, Benita Butrell the
Gossiper which Kim Wayans did some bold things with this season and The
Brothers Brothers, as well as all the great new characters Foxx brought to the
show. They included Prince in a jeans
ad, Ugly Woman and a Bill Cosby that has appreciated in great ways. Add the other skits he’s in and it seems
like he was there from the first season, so serious was his impact. Great one-shot skits include Pee Wee’s
Pornhouse, Misery II with Rick James, Jimmy Swaggart, Don Rickles Peace
Conference, and Ghost II. All in all, it is great and would be Damon Wayans’
last season.
The 1.33
X 1 full frame, color footage is in great shape, as clean and clear as it is
going to get for professional analog NTSC videotape of the time on DVD. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is good for its
age, but offers no surrounds of any kind.
Combined, the show again has never looked so good. There are no extras this time, which is sad,
though I wonder if Foxx and Lopez passed on participating. Certainly, Carrey was not available and the
Wayans split with Fox over the show prevents them from participating in extras
at this time. Regardless of that, the
shows are very strong and that is reason enough to recommend it highly.
