Hanaukyo Maid Team La Verite – Saving Mariel

(Volume 3/Animé TV)

Picture: C+     Sound: B-     Extras: C-     Episodes: C+

Hanaukyo Maid Team La Verite- Saving Mariel is the third volume of a silly series that is also part of a comedy cycle of Animé TV shows that are not as funny as they think they are.  There are again some strange and unusual animated moments like nothing we have seen before, but cannot reveal them or ruin any surprises.  Since the humor gets thin quickly and starts thin if you have seen any of the previous volumes, the fanfare segment on Animé and their comic book equivalents are not explored as much as they ought to be.  The shows here are:

9) The First Date

10) Blue Silent Bell

11) Forced Entry

12) True Smile

This is for ages 16 and up, so know some of the humor gets racy, but we’ve seen worse.  Too bad this did not pick up here, but it just cannot seem to find anything new to say or do, so unless you start with the first volume and like it, skip it.

The full frame 1.33 X 1 image is on the colorful side with some good animation, though the details are limited by the format.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has Pro Logic surrounds that try to up the humor.  The only extras include textless closing credits again, original Japanese opening and closing and previews for three other Geneon Animé DVD titles, though this copy like the second volume previously reviewed had a limited edition pencil case artwork piece.
