Samhain – Live 1984: Stardust Ballroom

Picture: C-     Sound: C-     Extras: D     Concert: C+

Glenn Danzig is a veteran Rocker after several decades, but his work early on in Samhain is not as readily available.  He has decided to start making up for that with old archive product.  Live 1984: Stardust Ballroom is a very rough, very early concert with much energy and all kinds of technical flaws in the taping.  The music includes:

1)     Samhain

2)     All Murder, All Guts, All Fun

3)     Macabre

4)     Die, Die My Darling

5)     The Shift

6)     The Howl

7)     Black Dream

8)     I Am Misery

9)     Halloween II

10)  The Hungry End

11)  Unholy Passion

12)  Horror Biz

13)  He Who Cannot Be Named

14)  Archangel

15)  Moribund

Well, if this is fun with death worship or not, who knows.  Maybe there’s even a touch of Satan or maybe this is just entertainment, but it is an early Danzig performance and that is enough historically to please fans and invite the curious to see him in action early on.  The 1.33 X 1 image is shot on rough analog NTSC videotape that has not held up well, including many volume drops throughout in the very rough Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1 Stereo mixes that cannot hide the many flaws.  There are no extras.
