Hall Sings Hines (Jazz CD)

Sound: B     Music: B

Singer April Hall sings Jazz vocal pieces by pianist Pamela Hines, who plays piano on the new CD album titled Hall Sings Hines (2005) has some good music in the genre to offer, particularly if you like the traditional approach in composition and vocal phrasing.  The tracks even have traditional-sounding titles like:

1)     I Go For You

2)     I-95

3)     Just Us

4)     4 Blues

5)     Encinitas

6)     To The Street

7)     A Stone

8)     We Could Have The Same

9)     Traces

It is also a well recorded set, presented here in the CD standard 16bit/44.1kHz PCM CD 2.0 Stereo sound with clarity for the most part, though a bit of it sounds restrained in the mid-range.  Otherwise, the Spice Rack Records release is one of the better of its kind we have heard lately.  Go to www.AprilHill.com or www.PamelaHines.com for more details.
