Funk You Very Much (Ohne Filter compilation)

Picture: C+     Sound: B-     Extras: C-     Performances: B-

In an elongated compilation of performances from the TV (and DVD) series of Ohne Filter concerts, Funk You Very Much (2006) reaches back over the years to pick key performances and justify the amusing title of this set.  The songs are as follows:

1)     Johnny “Guitar” Watson – A Real Mother For Ya

2)     Incognito – Everyday

3)     Tower Of Power – Diggin’ On James Brown

4)     Terence Trent D’Arby – Funky Broadway

5)     Mark King – Hot Water

6)     Curtis Mayfield – Move On Up

7)     Albert Collins – I Got That Feeling

8)     Go Jazz All-stars – Man & Machine

9)     Marcus Miller – Scoop

10)  Steve Lukather – Dismemberment

11)  Larry Carlton – Larry’s Secret

12)  Tony Joe White – Biyo Rhythm

13)  BONUS:  Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown – Stop Time

The 1.33 X 1 image and sound (both in PCM 2.0 16bit/48kHz Stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1) vary throughout.  Fortunately, we have reviewed all the separate discs throughout and you can look up each by typing them into the search engine.  The video is analog PAL video throughout.  The sound varies from flat sounding to fine 5.1 articulation.  Sometimes the PCM is better than the Dolby, other times the opposite.  Once in a while, both are solid.  The only extra here is the bonus track, so none of the usual extras the regular volumes offer appear.
