Blackmore’s Night – The Village Lanterne

Sound: B-     Music: B-

It seems there is a market that just eats up any music that even sounds slightly affiliated with traditional Irish music, but they rarely get to the level of a band as great as The Chieftains.  With that said, Blackmore’s Night is not bad and has more of an edge that Enya or elevator music equivalents.  To Ritchie Blackmore’s credit, this is all new material for the most part and works within the narrative (even fantasy) confines he has set up.  Those interested will likely enjoy it.

The PCM 16bit/44.1kHz 2.0 Stereo sound is nothing special, but is richer as compared to the recent Coors album of the same kind of material, though much lighter.  You get three bonus tracks, but that is all.
