Look At All The Love We Found: LIVE – A Tribute To Sublime

When they were at their peak, the band Sublime had
definitely hit a nerve and its lead singer Bradley Nowell was on his way to
Rock immortality. He still reached it,
but when he self-destructed, it was a blow to fans everywhere. Still, the legacy was established and Look
At All The Love We Found is a tribute concert to the band’s work by such
name acts as Fishbone, The Banned featuring Chuck D and Los Lobos participated
in this event.
Running an hour on DVD, I was surprised to see the Los
Lobos song omitted from the CD, but songs like Date Rape, Get Out,
Saturday Night, Badfish and of course, What I Got. The performances are sincere, but the event
does not cohere as much as it could since it seems to be more freeform than a
tribute should be in general. If you
are a fan or just like their music, this will quench your curiosity about how
the differences between the originals and covers turned out. Otherwise, expect an uneven presentation.
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image was shot on
video, likely some form of digital High Definition, but has detail limits too
hard to ignore and the lighting is mixed at best. The sound is here in Dolby 2.0 and 5.1 mixes, but the DTS 5.1 is
the best, though it too exposes the limits of the recording and audio transfer
it clarity and depth limits. The CD’s
PCM 2.0 16bit/44.1kHz Stereo is about the same and only beaten by the DVD’s DTS. Extras include stills, Music Video for
Fishbone’s cover of Date Rape and clip from the album’s release party.
