Rumor Has It… (Blu-ray)

Picture: B     Sound: B-     Extras: D     Film: C

Having faith that it will pick up as a long term popular favorite, Warner Bros. has now followed up their DVD and HD-DVD/DVD combo version of Rob Reiner’s disappointing Rumor Has It… (2005) with a Blu-ray edition.  We previous reviewed the HD-DVD/DVD combo version, which can be accessed at the following link:

That leaves the technical part of this new Blu-ray version, which is neither better nor worse than the HD-DVD version.  The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is about on par with the HD-DVD version, though it does not help or hurt Peter Deming’s flat cinematography.  The sound was nothing to write about in Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 on the HD-DVD or regular Dolby Digital 5.1 on the standard DVD.  Here, in PCM 16bit/48kHz 5.1, it is just as unexciting, as is the theatrical trailer being the only extra again.
