Marc Rosen & Sweet Thunder Jazztet – Monsoon (CD)

Sound: B-     Music: B-

Marc Rosen & Sweet Thunder Jazztet offers 11 tracks on their new CD Monsoon (2006) with material of their making.  It is a good Jazz album and to its credit is not as manicured as many in the genre, but it is not an album that stays with you after you hear it unless you are a diehard Jazz fan or love Saxophone.

Like many such albums I have heard recently, I have very little to say if I am not impressed by it.  It is hard to go in depth unless you really, really love Jazz.  The band can play, but that does not mean this critic went gag a, though I doubt that was the intent of the release.  However, fans should at least give it a chance.

The PCM 2.0 16bit/44.1kHz Stereo is a little rough, but still plays well enough.  Rosen co-produced with mixer/engineer Gregg Carpenter, who even plays bass guitar on the album.  Go to www.SweetThunderJazztet.com for more details.
