Cracker & Camper Van Beethoven – First Annual Camp Out Live

Many of you may have heard of Cracker or Camper Van Beethoven, but they never did make the mainstream, despite being better than most of their Rock and pseudo-Rock and post-Rock contemporaries.  We have actually looked at Cracker before, as the following link shows:

Cracker & Camper Van Beethoven – First Annual Camp Out Live is a nearly 2-hour concert (edited from a longer one) featuring the main acts and six guest acts (Johnny Hickman, Jonathan Segel, Greg Lisher, Victor Krummenacher, Monks Of Doom, Porchstock Footage) that makes for a decent alternate show many may enjoy.

Though this critic found it ultimately choppy and inconsistent, it has its moments and Van Beethoven’s Take The Skinheads Bowling is a classic.  This was taped on 9/9 – 9/10/05 and those who like this music will enjoy it more than most.  That does not mean it is only for fans, but mostly so.

The 1.33 X 1 image is soft and limited, looking like NTSC or its digital equivalent, but is adequate, as is the Dolby Digital 5.1 mix, which stretches out the stereo recording almost too thin.  Don’t expect major surrounds or multi-channel audio, or any extras, because they are not here either.
